An end to the curse?

It's a very good day to live in Boston. And though I can't say that I'm a particular fan of baseball, Red Sox mania is highly contagious. Instead of the habitual October, end-of-season bleating and bitterness, today around the Yard there was poetry and joy, broad smiles and an unfamiliar back-slapping comraderie.

The consensus among learned fans seems to be that the outcome of the Series matters, but only just, when compared to the achievement of the last week, the Sox have won already. Now we find ourselves in the unfamiliar territory of a myth-making moment.

And don't forget the metaphoric possibilities if Massachusetts ends up playing Texas for the Pennant!
