Apps done!

Good news--Alex finished the last of his college applications today. Now on to the financial aid forms! In preparation, I have to get all the tax stuff together this weekend and ready for taking to H&R Block as soon as we get our W-2s. Harvard is usually pretty good--delivering mid-month--but the Algonquin Club sucks--I'll ask David to see if they can get his out early this year. We have to file FAFSA for 3 schools by the first of February. Yikes.

This will be the first New Year's Eve Mom and I will be home alone. It's about time, really, that Alex go out and party with his friends. No complaints. I'm trying to find something for us to do so we don't just nag each other. A 500 piece jigsaw puzzle should help. I'll also fix some appetizers so we can nosh for a couple of hours. David won't be home until 2am at the earliest, the last seating at the Club is at 11pm and they won't have dessert until 1am.

I'm making the usual Pork and Sauerkraut for New Year's Day. I'll cook the sauerkraut with cider and spices like my mother-in-law used to do. Alex will fence the Hangover Open, perhaps for the last time in a while, and it will be nice to have everyone together. I'll miss my friends who will gather in Philadelphia this year but it will be peaceful to have just the 4 of us.
